THE UBUNTU SCHOOL

QUALITY EDUCATION IS A RIGHT, NOT A PRIVILEGE

The Ubuntu School’s approach is unique and innovative. Serving students from Grade R through Grade 8, we provide each child with a strong academic foundation while also delivering the extracurricular, health, and household stability support necessary to thrive both in and out of the classroom. Through this integrated support system, every child has the resources she needs to build a healthy and financially stable future.

With an emphasis on social and emotional learning, The Ubuntu School inspires lifelong individual development and intellectual curiosity to enable students to experience the joy of learning in order to become strong global citizens and uplift their communities.

Offering a safe and supportive environment through a trauma informed approach, The Ubuntu School ensures students are provided with a high quality education, peaking their interest through real world, child-led experiential learning, in a respectful environment that celebrates their self and communities enabling them to be prepared for opportunities that can transform their lives.

Our school community is committed to ensuring all students feel safe, welcomed and supported. We actively work to identify, understand and address the trauma that affects their lives–everyday.  Our team prioritises collaboration, reflection, and continuous improvement in service of student learning.

THE COMPREHENSIVE UBUNTU JOURNEY

To focus at school, a child needs to be healthy and safe at home. Ubuntu’s comprehensive wrap-around health and household stability services provide the foundation needed to thrive from cradle to career.

A TRAUMA-INFORMED SCHOOL

How well does a child perform in class when they haven’t eaten? What importance does a student put on their school work when their mother is critically ill? How likely is a student to learn to their potential when they are a victim of repeated sexual assault? These are the questions that define the approach of The Ubuntu School.

The Ubuntu School recognizes the influence of the students’ personal experiences on their learning and achievement. Our students deal repeatedly with horrific situations. They cope with grief, difficulties with attention, academic problems, nightmares, and illness. Trauma-informed education has helped teachers to evolve from the question of “What is wrong with this student?” to “What has this student been through?” At Ubuntu, we also ask, “What does this student need to reach their potential?” Ubuntu is a place to regain innocence, confidence and stability.

Steam Education

Ubuntu’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) Education programme is designed to prepare our scholars for success in the digital world. STEAM is integrated into our curriculum to develop essential skills such as strategic thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Through hands-on activities and projects, our students learn about robotics, coding, circuit building, and artistic expression. They gain experience with technology in our STEAM labs, like iPads and 3D printers, to understand algorithms, app development, and computer programming. With Ubuntu's STEAM program, we’re not just teaching students to keep up with technology—we’re empowering them to shape the future.
