Johannesburg

October 27, 2017

We returned to Fox Junction for our second annual Joburg Gala. Our board member and gala chair, Ciko Thomas, opened the night with an announcement of our new name; Ubuntu Scholar Sinesipho shared her powerful story of becoming the first in her family to attend university; and CEO Jacob Lief reflected on our 18-year journey in the townships of Zwide. The evening was hosted by our lovely emcee Unathi Msengana and featured live music by Langa Mavuso and Rebirth of Cool. We topped the event off with an exciting auction with luxury trips and award-winning artworks by Nelson Makamo, Andile Buka, Mark Seliger, and Zwelethu Machepha.

Ubuntu's Johannesburg Gala was a cause to celebrate. Together, with hundreds of our amazing supporters and incredible entertainment, we raised funds to transform the lives of Port Elizabeth's children, from cradle to career.
