This Gqeberha, Zwide based NGO has the following vacancy for which an excellent basic salary and benefits are being offered.

Objective: Treat student injuries or illnesses and advise students and their parents or guardians on health issues.

1.Nursing & Medical Care

  • Provide first aid and treatment for minor ailments and injuries among students

  • Administer and manage medications in accordance with policies.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for students 

  • Liaise with parents, school management, and healthcare facilities for expert medical intervention when needed.

  • Collaborate with caseworkers to accompany ill or injured students to hospital when necessary.

  • Communicate critical health conditions and ‘High Risk’ medical concerns to relevant staff members immediately

  • Inform school Snr social worker exhibit psychosocial concerns or seek emotional support.

  • Provide health-related advice and support to parents as needed.

  • Conduct Annual Health screenings and manage Health screening appointment

2. Health & Safety

  • Provide education on infection control, immunisations, and public health concerns.

  • Monitor and report any significant health issues/trends 

3. Student Support & Well-being

  • Work in collaboration with Snr Nurse to enhance school nursing and medical services.

  • Share relevant student medical information and strategies with Snr Nurse to ensure appropriate support.

4. Administrative & Policy Development

  • Maintain compliance with national healthcare policies.

  • Develop and update school related health policies in coordination 

  • Maintain detailed incident reports for medical interventions and accidents.

  • Participate in meetings with clinic supervisors to discuss health initiatives and improvements.

  • Compile weekly reports

 5. Outreach Nurse Roles and Responsibilities

  • Health education and promotion

  • Implentation of the VW FOTD program in uitenhage

  • Community engagement and mobilisation

  • Screening, testing, and treatment for diseases (HIV, TB, STIs, NCDs)

  • Vaccinations 

  • Maternal and child health support (antenatal, postnatal care)

  • HIV testing and counselling

  • Home TB screening of TB contact and referral

  • Medication adherence support and patient follow-up

  • Visits clients in Hospital

  • Follow-up on external referral

  • Participate in stakeholder’s health events

  • Home visits with caseworkers where there is health related issues
