Ubuntu has always been about bringing people together. For many of you, that means joining us at our galas. However, given the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel both our 2020 US and UK Galas.

At Ubuntu, the work we do is literally life-saving for many of the over 2,000 clients who rely on us every day to survive, and to thrive. With the spread of this virus, we have no choice but to be there for our most at-risk clients––the pregnant mothers living with HIV, the immuno-compromised children growing up in unsafe homes or being raised by their elderly grandparents, and teenagers in need of critical treatment and psychosocial care.

Our clients need us, not in six weeks or six months, but right now.

We are taking all precautions to safeguard the Ubuntu Campus and prioritize the health and safety of our staff and clients in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Without our New York and London galas, we need to raise $1M by June to keep our children safe, continue our life-saving medical services, and run our core programming.

That means we need you–now, more than ever.

While we may not be able to come together physically, now is the time for the global Ubuntu community to unite and deliver on our commitment to the community we serve. We will not let them down.
